According to the video, feelings of kindness and compassion can be studied by looking at the oldest part of the brain, which means that compassion has existed all throughout the evolution of human beings. This works in direct contradiction with the notion of "survival of the fittest," meaning that humans evolved by being aggressive and ruthless.
However, thought Darwin may have coined that term, he also found that sympathy, compassion and kindness are the strongest emotions that we have as humans. This video is a wealth of information that elaborates that idea. If nothing else, perhaps it will inspire a little more kindness and compassion in all of you.
